New radioactive diagnostic agents for use with PET imaging are improving identification of beta-amyloid, the brain plaque associated with Alzheimer’s disease. But there are some concerns that radiologists and technologists don’t have enough training to accurately read these PET studies. To optimise minimum experience for license to interpret PET in Alzeimer's is 6 weeks training or minimum exposure to 100 pet scans by Lisa Gobar | May 15, 2012 12:21 PM EDT the new agent Amyvid requires correlation with a database. this is technically challenging, so the CNMTs need additional training. understanding the data output and the additional sources of false positives due to artifact are the reason the MDs need the training. Good for the FDA.
