Agfa lands another DIN-PACS award

The consortium led by Agfa of Ridgefield Park, NJ, has received a large-scale PACS award from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, under the military's Digital Imaging Network-Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (DIN-PACS) project. The order is valued at $5 million. Installation is expected to begin in July at the site, which has a PACS network from the military's older Medical Diagnostic Imaging Support (MDIS) project.

The order leverages off a DIN-PACS award received earlier in 1998 by the Agfa consortium. As part of that order, from the Pentagon Clinic, the Agfa consortium was to integrate that facility's PACS with Walter Reed's PACS network. Other members on the Agfa team include Cerner of Kansas City, MO, for RIS offerings; Cabletron Systems of Rochester, NH, for networking components; and Mitra Imaging of Waterloo, Ontario, for RIS integration.
