Dr. Barker is an associate professor of psychiatry, internal medicine, and anesthesiology at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University and an adjunct professor of small animal clinical sciences at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She has published numerous papers on the human-companion animal interaction.
