Indiana's State Psychiatric Hospitals are state-of-the-art facilities serving adults with serious mental illness and addictive disorders or forensic involvement. These hospitals feature new or recently renovated inpatient treatment units for patients requiring intensive treatment and offer excellent mental health and addiction research facilities. The progressive, 409-bed psychiatric facility of Logansport State Hospital seeks general, forensic and geriatric psychiatrists to join its collegial staff. You will enjoy a full-time schedule of just 37.5 hours per week (Mon−Fri, 8−4:30) with no call required. Additional compensation is available if you elect to participate in the call rotation.

General: A general psychiatrist is needed to care for patients assigned to the Larson (LTC) Continuous Psychiatric Service Line, an 86-bed facility and step-down unit for the forensic service line. It houses the specialty programs of sexual responsibility, fluid management and continued psychiatric treatment. This unit also treats individuals that have behavioral issues.

Forensic: A psychiatrist with interest interacting with forensic patients in a corrections facility is needed to join the Isaac Ray Treatment Center. Currently 105 beds, the Isaac Ray Treatment Center serves individuals who are incompetent to stand trial, individuals who have served their sentences with the Department of Correction (DOC) and continue to need mental health services, individuals found not guilty by reason of insanity and those mentally ill individuals with severely dangerous behaviors. The psychiatrists’ success rate in restoring competency in 90 days to patients on this unit continues to increase.

Geriatric: A psychiatrist with geriatric certification or experience interacting with nursing home patients needed to cover the geriatric service line which is comprised of an 18-bed male unit and a 14-bed female unit.

Located just 1-1/2 hours from Indianapolis and 2-1/2 hours from Chicago, Logansport is nestled in a valley surrounded by picturesque farms with acres of rich farmland. Logansport is just 20 minutes east of the popular housing and resort areas of Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman surrounding Monticello, Indiana.
