Dr McCance-Katz is professor of psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She has been working in the field of addiction medicine for 16 years as a clinician and clinical researcher. Her specialty areas include pharmacotherapy for substance use disorders, comorbid HIV disease and addiction, clinical pharmacology of drugs of abuse, and drug interactions. She received her MD from the University of Connecticut and PhD in infectious disease epidemiology from Yale University. Dr McCance-Katz reports no conflicts of interest with the subject matter of this Special Report section.
