The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine (COM) is seeking a full-time faculty member to fill the Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry position.  The position is in the Clinical Educator track at the Assistant/Associate Professor level and will be approximately 40% administrative as the Director of Medical Student Education and 60% clinical, which will include inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.  The successful candidate will have an MD or MD/PhD, have ABPN board certification in Psychiatry, an unrestricted Illinois medical license, and at least 2-3 years of experience as a faculty member involved with teaching and evaluation of medical students and/or residents as well as some experience in medical school curriculum design and program evaluation.  The successful candidate will oversee all Psychiatry clerkship rotations, the relevant preclinical curriculum, the M4 psychiatry electives, and the Psychiatry student interest groups.  The Department of Psychiatry at UIC is a well-established, academically strong department in the COM with close to 90 faculty, 40 Adult Psychiatry residents, and 6 Child fellows as well as fellowships in Addiction Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry.  The medical school class at UIC COM is a large and diverse body of students with 180 students in each class.  The third year Psychiatry clerkship is one of the highest-rated clerkships and there are several fourth year electives in Psychiatry that are very well regarded.  This position reports to the Associate Head of Education in the Department of Psychiatry and ultimately to the Head of the Department.  The Department’s centralized Office of Education will provide administrative support for this position.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  The position will be open until filled.  This is a very exciting academic opportunity for an individual with a serious career interest in education administration and curriculum development in academic psychiatry and medicine.
