May 7, 2013

Psychosomatic Medicine/Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist

Medical Clinic of Sacramento, Inc. (MCS), a multi-specialty group with more than 300 healthcare providers and 4 hospitals in the Sacramento region, is looking to add a BE/BC or experienced Psychosomatic Medicine/Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist to a growing hospital psychiatry consultation service. Qualified candidates need to be board-certified in General Psychiatry. Candidates who are BE/BC in Psychosomatic Medicine, or have clinical experience in consultation-liaison psychiatry, neuropsychiatry or geriatric psychiatry, are strongly preferred.

The qualified candidate will primarily see patients at Mercy General Hospital (www.mercygeneral.org), a 342-bed facility. You will provide psychiatric consultations in the hospital and emergency room, and collaborate with other subspecialists, including an inpatient neurology service and an award-winning hospitalist team. Active social services and case management departments are available for psychiatric dispositions. The incoming physician will also consult in a wide variety of psychiatric and med-psych and join in this division with another board-certified Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist who covers at Mercy San Juan hospital, a 370-bed level II trauma facility. Additional opportunities for teaching and/or research are available through the Mercy Neuroscience Institute if desired. The position is full time, and does not require any weekend, holiday or nighttime coverage.

Mercy Medical Group (mymercymedgroup.org) is affiliated with Dignity Health, one of the leading healthcare systems in the country. MMG offers a very competitive compensation and benefits package, including bonus potential, and an excellent retirement plan.

Sacramento is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and one of the most affordable places to live in California. The area offers a wide variety of activities to enjoy, including fine restaurants, shopping, biking, boating, river rafting, skiing, and many types of cultural events. Lake Tahoe, the Pacific coastline, San Francisco, the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma Valleys, and the historic Gold Rush towns of the Sierra foothills are all within easy driving distance.
