These service animals are improving veteran lives...

Maggie O'Haire, PhD, shares how service dogs can help alleviate posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, like by detecting distress signals and waking the veteran up during a nightmare.

The PAWS Act, introduced by Florida Congressman John Rutherford, seeks to establish a competitive grant program for organizations like K9s for Warriors to pair service dogs with veterans.

Dr O'Haire is the leader of the Organization for Human-Animal Interaction Research and Education (OHAIRE) research group and an associate professor of Human-Animal Interaction at Purdue University.
