A University of Pittsburgh team led by Dr Mary Phillips has contributed tremendously toward a lab test that would differentiate unipolar depression from bipolar depression. In a recent review of their own and others’ work, Drs Cardoso de Almeida and Phillips noted that there are indeed differences that can be seen on MRI.
