Closing the Confidence Gap

Article

“Confidence occurs when we feel supported, when we feel connection, when we have safety, and when we have experience under our belt.”

Recent research shows that there is a substantial gap in self-promotion between men and women, with women systematically assessing their own performance and future ability less favorably than equally performing men. In this Mental Health Minute video, Melisa Noel, cofounder of the iRise app, addresses the confidence gap and how we can empower women to accomplish their dreams.

Ms Noel is cofounder of iRise, an app dedicated to making personal transformation accessible to everyone. She has collaborated with Pepper Schwartz, PhD—a professor of sociology at the University of Washington and a consultant to iRise—in honor of Women’s History Month in order to #BreakTheConfidenceBias.
